Portable Appliance Testing (PAT)

The law requires all electrical equipment to be maintained to prevent danger.

Portable Appliance Testing is the testing carried out as a routine to determine whether the equipment is in a satisfactory condition.

In-Service testing carried out by Lawton Solutions will involve the following:

Preliminary inspection
Earth continuity tests (for Class 1 equipment)
Insulation testing (which may sometimes be substituted by earth leakage measurement)
Functional checks
